Leps: Red Ad (6), Small White (2) & Speckled Wood (1) all nectaring on ivy blossom.
Sluice Farm (Gwent) this morning lots of M/pipits going over but few other migrants except a few Swallows, 2 Wheatears and a few Chiffies still about. I'm both a Glamorgan and gwent Birder so will pass on the vote. Maurice
Had a look for the reported Yellow Browed at St Mellons business park yesterday evening but no luck. However there is a large mixed tit flock doing the rounds in the area which I will keep an eye on. This morning had a Ringtail Hen Harrier Flying over Faendre Reen and heading towards Castleton. My second record of this species in the area. Maurice
Slap,Isaac,portly (& GLB later),Porthcawl-4 med gulls in the carpark,sea watch produced.....err not a lot. Portobello & Ogmore-carpark.....errr,not a lot. Kenfig-redstart & goshawk were the highlights.
A quick trip to Middle Earth produced the Whooper Swan at the Watermill with Wigeon & Snipe also there. Salt Lake carpark at Porthcawl had 3 Med Gulls, 2 ads & 1stW. Seawatch off Irongate produced naff all. Popped in at KNNR for coffee and chat with SJM & DGC, very nice.
Neath river (east bank between m-way and rivermouth)today - Ad W Little gull by gas main,Cetti's warbler in reedbed by Brunel's tower,22 Curlew,15 Redshank,2 Grey plover,2 Kingfisher,2 Swallow,Little egret and 5 dunlin flushed,one into the path of an Imm Merlin (see photos)
After reading about the amazing movement of finches on the continent yesterday (some Dutch points counted 30,000+ birds), I took my chances on an open space in the city. Nothing but the usual in Pontcanna, chaffinches well less than triple figures, goldfinches, a siskin or 2, mipits, alba wags, all very high. Locally 2 chiffs. Here's hoping for some cloud cover.

Salmon were running up Blackweir this afternoon. First I've seen of the autumn.

Isaac & Slap, Kidwelly,no LBH, but a female hen harrier showed well also golden plover, blackwitt and loads of little egrets and common gulls.
Rumney Great Wharf this morning a Short Eared Owl on wharf and a Brent Goose offshore. Could not be sure of race as distant and against sun. Maurice
