Goldcliff this morning, 4 Greenshank, 5 Spot Reds, 4 Avocet and a few wheatears & Swallows still present. Tawny Owl roosting in car park. Unlikely to be seen unless pointed out by someone knowing the site.
3 Ring Ouzel (2m,1f) & Mistle Thrush feeding on rowans at Mynydd Bwllfa above Cwmdare this morning. Also a Cormorant over heading towards Maerdy reservoir.
Sluice Farm & RGW this morning between 8.30 & 10.00am 40+ Swallows, Good numbers Meadow Pipits & Pied Wgtails + a few Skylarks all heading NE. 1 Green Sand, 3 Stonechats, &1 Wheatear. Lapwing flock now up to 100+.
Drake Scaup offshore this am between Cors C and the Estuary. 14 Swallows heading NE, 35 Pied wagtails in field by Mardy farm + others in flight. Lots of M/Pipits and Goldies. 4 Chiffies at least. Failed to see Yellow Legged Gull seen by Rob earlier.
Wood Lark still present at 14.20, thru kissing-gate follow hedgerow (on your right) at furthest end of paddock in the area by small grey gas meter (not the one in centre of the paddock). Showing down to 10m. Also Firecrest in hedgerow with goldcrest and chiffchaffs.
Dartford warbler at St Brides this morning between West Usk Lighthouse and the Usk Estuary in brambles etc by sea wall. 31 Swallows heading NE, 2 wheatears. Whole area crawling with Skylarks and Mipits.
Pontcanna early AM passage: redwings: 3 > W, 6 > E, swallows 5 > E, else usual small nos. either E or W: song & mistle thrushes, blackbirds, mipits, pied wags, chaff, green, goldfinches, siskins; unusual no. of dunnocks present.

CBWR: Heard what I believe to be Penduline Tit calling from centre of reserve @ 10.00 (definately not a Reed Bunting), the call kept up for about a minute then unfortunately it went silent. I did not see anything. Stayed till 11.30 but no sighting or further calls heard. I spoke earlier to DAB & RGH, who had just finished the mornings ringing there, they had not heard or seen anything relating to PT, however they did state that the reed-mace had been pulled about a lot very recently. No sign of Lesser Scaup there today. Of note: Gadwall (2) & Wigeon (1) + at least 6 Cetti's Wbr., (DAB has ringed 19 there so far this year).

Lamby Lake - A late afternoon stroll around lake produced 100+ Redwings,2 Mistle Thrush, 2 Chiff Chaff, 1 Blackcap, 1 Redpoll, 10+ Long-tailed Tits. No sign of Ring-billed Gull returning yet.
Rumney Great Wharf this morning 3 adult Whooper Swans. Not in Cardiff I'm afraid - about 100 metres east of border. Jack Snipe also in Gwent. Westward passage of woodpigeons continuing, on and off.
Ogmore beach this morning 1 Purple Sand. and an adult winter Med Gull. No sign of Water Pipit around river. Kenfig & Eglwys produced nothing of note. 2 year ticks however- messrs Rich and Moon !

RGW: Forgot - Whimbrel (2), both birds + the GP took off towards Flat Holm.
